First week on the job and he was starting to get the hang of how things worked around here. This wasn't exactly a voluntary job change, but he was okay with it, mostly because it was a job that still gave him some leeway on how he ran his life.

Ignoring the fact that he was basically on probation and being watched.

Not that anyone could tell that since he was behind the counter, rocking away to the music blaring from the earbuds he wore while he was making up drinks for people with an ease that hid the fact that he was relatively new to this lifestyle. He also seemed to hear each order perfectly despite the loud music he was listening to.

[ Cain doesn't stop in here very often, mostly when he's in a rush and because he's way more put together than most people would assume, he's not often in a rush. Today is different, because he woke up to the power being out at his home and went out to go fix it himself instead of wait for the electric company to get on it. Thankfully the source of the problem wasn't anywhere inaccessible and quick enough to fix, but it does mean he's about three steps from being late for opening his own shop.

Which, it's his own shop and he can be late if he wants to, but he doesn't want to. Thus the artificial rush. Anyway, he comes in and gets in line and looks at the available options before the noise really catches up with him and wow, that guy really likes going deaf, huh? Weird. Whatever. Not his problem unless it gets in the way of ordering.

Mustering up a smile by the time he gets to the counter, he nods up to the board. ] Any personal favorites?

[Going deaf is the least of his worries and he's not going to have any difficulties from this. He stops what he's doing to focus on the new customer, music still blaring from his earbuds.]

Funny enough, I'm not a coffee guy. I just work here and don't really drink the stuff.

[ Not unexpected, if he's being at all honest, but Cain at least could have used some help in the right direction. Oh well. That music is getting an interesting look, though, because how does he still hear anything? Is he reading lips instead? ]

Okay, this might take a minute...

[ He glances behind him to check for other customers but at least for now he's the only one in line. So he'll just stare at the board to figure out what he wants to start the morning. ]

[How he can still hear is a mystery that will stay unsolved. At least for the near future.]

Take your time. There aren't any other customers waiting around, so you're good.

[And it's not like McCarthy has anything better to do. Everything's taken care of for the moment and since neither Flynn or Regan are shouting at him to do something, he's fine.]
